Your Favorite Piece Of Wisdom: Enjoy life - you only have one shot at it.
My Life Since Senn ...: I left Senn and went to U of I in Urbana/Champaign. It was a great learning experience both academically and socially. I met my husband Jim and after graduation we stayed on campus for him to complete grad school while I taught elementary school. His career has taken us to many different areas. We have lived in Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois, Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, and Florida. For a girl who never left Chicago until college, this was very exciting.

We have one daughter and two beautiful grandchildren that live in Alabama. After teaching for 20 years, my husband and I retired to Central Florida, near Orlando. The grandkids love it as we are 25 minutes from Disney.

I live in a retirement community and spend my leisure time volunteering and playing my two passions, tennis and bridge. I volunteer as a tutor at a local elementary school to help students who are struggling with reading and math. My husband and I volunteer at Give Kids The World Village, which is a nonprofit organization that provides families with children who have life threatening diseases a week of fun at the Orlando entertainment venues.

We love to travel. Once a year we take a big trip with my best friend from college and her husband. We have recently been to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France. Last year we did Alaska. This year we will be traveling to Greece, Italy and Turkey. Our life is good and we have our health, and for this I am extremely grateful.

Your Favorite Piece Of Wisdom: Shit! I shoulda had a V-8!
My Life Since Senn ...: After getting a degree in Psych from Roosevelt, I spent one year as a "suit" in the corporate world, which convinced me that I would never do that again. In 1967, I traveled awhile, lived on beaches and slept in my car, went to the East Coast and visited everyone who had ever invited me. 1967-70 - back in Chicago, got a job working for a juke box company on West Side.

My 15 minutes of fame occurred in 1972, when I bought Wise Fools Pub on Lincoln Avenue and turned it from a dead saloon into an internationally recognized blues and jazz club. I was fortunate to meet and become friends with many of my blues heroes. At the same time I was able to provide a venue for many upcoming local jazz musicians.

Since then, i have done many things - mostly in the beverage and food industries. After a stroke in 2003, I retired; now I'm living on social security and my laurels.

If you're interested, you can google Wise Fools Pub for more information. I'm not the priest and I'm not the stockbroker from New Jersey.

My Life Since Senn ...: My wife, Eva, and I reside in Hinsdale IL and are fortunate to have three children between us, and two wonderful (of course) grandchildren. We are now preparing for Eva's daughter's wedding and are very excited about that. I have been practicing law in Chicago since 1968, and I have tried over 100 cases and handled many appeals. I am still a partner in a large national law firm and I specialize in patent litigation. I am looking forward to seeing many of my friends and acquaintances from Senn days. Also, thanks to the Reunion Committee for all their hard work.

Your Favorite Piece Of Wisdom: Life is not a dress rehearsal.
My Life Since Senn ...: I graduated college with a degree in education and married Alan Unikel a week after graduation. We have two wonderful children. We divorced after 23 years and I married John Pacay and his 2 children several years later. We have been married for 20 years and have 5 grandchildren.

After spending a number of years as a stay-at-home mom, I returned to the classroom as a 5th grade teacher. Several years later, I went on to graduate school to get my Master's Degree and subsequently my Doctorate in school administration. I became a middle school assistant principal and then spent 8 years as a principal in Glencoe, IL. I left Glencoe to become an Assistant Superintendent in Northbrook, IL. When an early retirement incentive was offered by the state - I took it and retired at age 50. After 'retiring', I worked as a professor and program director at National Louis University and then went on to become the Vice-President of Education at Chicago Children's Museum at Navy Pier. After 'retiring', yet again, (I loved the retirement parties) from the Museum, I started my own business, providing geography based programs and products to schools, museums, etc. I sold the company last year. I currently work as a coach/mentor to new school administrators.

I love this stage of life and am blessed with an amazing husband, children, stepchildren, grandchildren, family, and friends. I just don't know where the years have gone!

My Life Since Senn ...: Received my undergrad at the U of Michigan and taught art in a Kansas City Jr High. Returned to Chicago and substitute taught and started a family.
Returned to the U of I for a MA in Urban Policy-Health Care. The next 20 years were spent working in the insurance field--always volunteering for causes that I believe in.

I raised 3 wonderful children and now have 7 grandchildren I love with all my heart.

In 2007, I incorporated Volunteer Expeditions, a non profit, to help rebuild New Orleans. Volunteer Expeditions takes volunteers, ages 12 to 85 on trips to help rebuild the city, work with families, learn about the culture, eat amazing food and enjoy the wonderful music.

Since beginning the company, we have taken over 600 volunteers to New Orleans
I now offer a second opportunity to volunteer in the Navajo Nation
I love what I am doing and invite you to join us on a trip.

Your Favorite Piece Of Wisdom: I have enjoyed the second blooming that comes when you finish the life somewhat controlled by emotions; and suddenly find at the age of almost 70...that a whole new life has opened before you, filled with things you can think about, study or read about. It is as if a fresh sap of ideas and thoughts were rising in you. The best, truly is, yet to be.

My Life Since Senn ...: ....included education, marriage, rearing three daughters. When the last one went to kindergarten, I began teaching third through eighth grades.

During this time, my students and I were involved in writing two books, and giving back to the community with a yearly project. Half of my twenty-six years in education was spent as a Master Teacher, teaching/training student teachers.

My daughters are well educated...two were business majors and one is an aerospace engineer. They are now enjoying motherhood.

After my husband's death 6 years ago, I moved to SC to be nearer my daughters.

At present I am really enjoying my grandchildren, a bit of traveling(off to Europe in October), working with the local Medical Alliance (my husband was a Georgia physician, and my son-in-law is a local physician), volunteering in other areas, and serving on various boards.

Your Favorite Piece Of Wisdom: Faith and enthusiasm makes life worth living.
My Life Since Senn ...: Graduated Roosevelt University with a B.A. in primary education. In January 1964 married Gil Wallerstein, a 1960 graduate of Evanston High School. Taught in the Chicago Public Schools for two years. Our daughter Marla was born in 1966 and son David in 1969. From 1980 until 1988 I enjoyed teaching primary grades, secular studies at the Arie Crowne Hebrew Day School.

Life changed direction after celebrating the bat and bar mitzvah of our children in Israel. My love of Israel led me to become a businesswoman. In 1990 I founded Israel Discovery Tours specializing in family tours to Israel. Within a short time we became the largest bar-bat mitzvah tour from North America and later added departures just for adults. My company has received many honors from the Israeli government and Ministry of Tourism for excellence in service, innovation and support of Israel. I continue to work full time, however, in the winter I am fortunate to be based at my home in Boynton Beach, FL. Over the years, I have reconnected with many of you who have traveled with us. It is always fun to get a call from a fellow Senn alumni.

Our daughter graduated Washington University (St. Louis) BFA and received a MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Marla is a metalsmith jewelry designer. Our son received his BA from Brandeis University. In addition to managing my tour company, David is an entrepreneur - founder and partner in two other businesses. Our children live in the Chicago area and we are blessed with three fun, good hearted grandsons -Jonah (12) Gabriel (10) Ari (8).

Gil and I travel frequently and in recent years our lives have been enriched by vacationing with our grandsons.

A deep commitment to Israel, and my amazing Israeli staff and friends, will keep me working for the foreseeable future. I am blessed and grateful for a meaningful and fulfilling career and a loving family.

Sorry I will be unable to enjoy the reunion - I will be in Israel. Thanks to the committee and warmest regards to my classmates.
