My Life Since Senn ...: After graduation I attended Northern IL. University. After a year I quit and went to beauty school, got engaged and married. We had 2 boys Richard (42) and Dave (40). After 24 years of marriage I got divorced. I helped start a support group for widowed and divorced adults at our church in Inverness, IL.

I remarried 17 years ago to a wonderful man Tom Keane and we are having a great time. We have a total of 6 boys, 4 daughter in laws, and 11 grandchildren. Our summers are spent going from one game to another.

I had a catering business for a couple of years called "Magic Pantry Catering" in the northwest suburbs. When I got divorced I decided a needed a 9 to 5 job and went to work for a packaging company, going from customer service to customer service manager and company trainer. Stayed there for 22 years until my retirement in 2007. since then we spend our winters in Florida and Summers here in IL.

My Life Since Senn ...: Lived in Santa Monica, California, then moved to Santa Cruz, California, a beautiful beach town. Lived there for 20 years - was a law librarian for 12 years. Moved to Prescott, Arizona in 2002 on my 60th B-day. Drove myself and my dog to Arizona to start a new life.

I was married in 1988 for 5 years. While married, my husband and I travelled around the US and lived like gypsies. It was a wonderful eye-opening experience.

My interests are dogs. I am a free spirit.

No. of Grandchildren: 0 (My sons are 14 and 11)
Your Favorite Piece Of Wisdom: He who knows himself to be deep strives for clarity of expression; he who wishes to seem deep strives for obscurity.
My Life Since Senn ...: I got my B.A. at Northwestern in timely fashion, and then started doing things belatedly. In 1971 I became a "mature" graduate student, working on my doctorate in Comparative Literature, having in the intervening years, been a social worker, cab-driver, and editor; and having spent nearly three years in Europe. In 1978, I became a somewhat older beginning faculty member at Indiana University. In 1990, when I returned to Bloomington after a research year spent in Santa Barbara, Rome, Paris, and Frankfurt, I met and fell in love with someone who lived a few houses down from me - Margot Gray, a professor of French. (My previous marriage had ended in divorce when I was in graduate school.) With the birth of Joseph in 1995, I became an older father. (Our second son, Nathan, was born in 1998.) Having spent my entire career at Indiana, I retired at the end of 2006. My retirement was not belated, but neither was it complete: I continue to mentor students, to do research and to write (about belatedness, among other things), and to lecture, provided that the venue is right. (The last was in Paris.)

I was married to Bernie for 43 years. Bernie and I loved to travel and we visited many wonderful places. He passed away in 2007. We had two daughters, Lysa, and Susan who passed away in 2006 at age 39. I miss them both terribly. But life goes on.

My hobbies are knitting, reading and travel.
