Hyma died in July, 2022 at the age of 80. She had 2 sons and 5 grandchildren. Hyma gave of herself freely to others and helped to enrich Jewish traditions. Hyma was the Director of Education at Beth Emet The Free Synagogue in Evanston, Illinois, for many years. She had a beautiful voice and sang in various choirs. She visited Israel on numerous occasions and looked forward to more travel. Hyma served as president of her retirement community Residents Council. She lent her unique personality and passion to bringing more Jewish experiences to other residents including singing and Shabbat services, Seder dinners, and teaching monthly classes about historical Jewish themes. She also enjoyed playing bridge.
