My Life Since Senn ...:
Life after Senn began with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Chicago. My favorite weekend was spent as host for New York artist Louise Nevelson when she was on campus as headliner for the Festival of the Arts, then in its infancy My career wound its way through marketing, advertising, public relations, and fundraising. Stints included public relations firms, an all-woman marketing and design firm, advertising agencies, a national student loan provider, and finally, Indiana's largest law firm. Also spent several years as a free-lance newspaper writer. Lived in Indianapolis nearly three decades and recently moved back to Illinois -- where politics are so much more exciting. The climax of my volunteer life was four years as chair of a speaker series with nationally prominent names, greeting them at the airport and digging up background tidbits for my introductions. I am delighted to have family minutes rather than hours away. And it has been most pleasant to reconnect with friends and favorite haunts. |

My Life Since Senn ...:
My life since high school: U of I undergrad, graduate school Northeastern U in Boston in Actuarial Science. Began actuarial exams in 1968. Became a Consulting Actuary in 1972. Married an Irish Catholic girl in 1975 who, like me, didn't want to have kids. Finished actuarial exams in 1976. After the winters of 1977-1980, moved to San Francisco in 1981 where I joined an actuarial consulting firm. Started investing in real estate in 1982. Joined my wife as a full time real estate investor in 1984. Survived, sometimes barely, several booms and busts over the years before finally settling into the mobile home park market. Still standing, still married, no kids. It's been a wild ride, but a mostly rewarding one, and I am still looking forward to an exciting future. P.S. Since 1986 have been signed up to be Cryonically Suspended upon my "death". Hopefully I can convince enough of my classmates to do the same so we may possibly get together to celebrate our 500th Year Class Reunion in 2460!! |

My Life Since Senn ...:
After I left Senn, I went to U of I in Champaign, was a PiKA, and graduated in three years as a special education/vocational education teacher. I passed the Chicago Certification Exam, the first time I took it, and worked at Marshall High School as an assigned teacher teaching shop and special education. I left Chicago in 1972 to work on a doctorate in vocational programming for exceptional youth and adults at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Ks. I earned my doctorate in this area from the University of Kansas Special Education Department. I taught in the department for awhile but got tired of the political correctness and went back to work in the Public Schools in Kansas City, Kansas at J.C. Harmon High School as the print shop teacher. I retired in 2005 from teaching. I am still a ham radio operator and have been for 58 years. I am the state MARS director for Air Force MARS in State of Kansas. I am net control on six transcontinental MARS nets (which serve Army, Navy/Marine Corps, and Air Force) and net control on three Region VII Air Force MARS nets. I am still a competitive target shooter and belong to the Mill Creek Rifle Club. I compete in the high power center fire service rifle matches which are 500 yd matches. I collect military vehicles and belong to the Military Vehicle Preservation Association of America. I own four trucks. Two of the trucks are little ones - 3/4 ton and 1 1/4 ton. Two of the trucks are big ones - 2 1/2 tons. We drive the trucks in parades and put on static displays to remind people that if it wasn't for the military we wouldn't have the freedoms that we have. I have two grown sons - one lives in Wichita, Ks and the other lives in Doylestown, Pa. I have five grandchildren the oldest of whom is a first year medical student at Loyola University Medical School in Chicago. My older son is a partner in a Wichita, KS law firm. My younger son is a senior director of Merck Pharmaceuticals. I live in Lawrence, Ks which is 40 miles West of Kansas City and have lived here for 38 years. |
