Your Favorite Piece Of Wisdom: Life is like stepping onto a ship that is about to sail out to sea and sink. (Zen aphorism)
My Life Since Senn ...: B.A. in philosophy from Northwestern (1964), followed by grad school in philosophy at UW-Madison, where I spent the next six years and was married to my first wife (we divorced four years later). Although I never completed my Ph.D. dissertation, I earned an M.A. in the field and taught philosophy for the next 35 years at UW, California State Univ. Northridge and (for 27 years) at Los Angeles City College, where I was very active in the faculty union. After I got to California in 1970 I got very interested in counseling, earned a second M.A. in Educational Psychology: Counseling & Guidance, and became a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, working part time in that capacity for many years. I married my current wife in 1981 and we spent six months traveling around the world. Our children were born in 1983 and 1986. In 1998 I began working as the executive director of the Center for Nonviolent Communication, a nonprofit organization sponsoring training programs throughout the world. I left that position in 2006 and retired to Eugene, Oregon where I reside with my wife and son. Our daughter is currently living in Oakland, California. In recent years I`ve been offering some training in Nonviolent Communication; devoting a lot of time to playing the banjo and fiddle with the Oregon Old Time Fiddlers Association and other friends; volunteering with the local Department of Peace Campaign; gardening; and dealing with several health crises. |

Comment: Dear Friends, I am looking forward to seeing Senn friends at the 60th in June. I have lived on the West Coast from the Bay Area to Alaska over the past 45 years, and have lost touch with high school friends with the exception of George Litman, a friend since we were 3 years old and Richmond Street neighbors. I am looking forward to catching up with more of you.

My Life Since Senn ...:
I originally went to the West Coast to go to graduate school at Stanford, first in Space Dynamics (remember, we were headed to the moon), then in Business School. After that, I called Palo Alto home for most of the next 20 years, except for short stints in Juneau, Alaska (2 years working for the State of Alaska and 6 summers running the first of my Alaska travel businesses) and Milan, Italy (2 years as a management consultant). In 1990, I moved to the Seattle area, living in Seattle for a couple of years, but mostly on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound. I have two daughters from my first marriage and two step-daughters with my second wife Ginny Rodin Behr. Together Ginny and I have five grandchildren, two in Austin, one in LA, and two near our home in the Sonoma Valley wine country. We came to Sonoma County to retire, but only my wife made it. I work part-time as head of U.S. operations for Abercrombie & Kent (A&K), which is based in Downers Grove, IL. A&K is the leading company in luxury adventure travel globally. My passions are hiking in the beautiful natural areas near our home and book collecting (Alaskana and Western fiction authors). I have been fortunate to be able to travel to and hike in remote corners of the world as part of my travel industry work and consulting. And I have never gotten over being a tree-hugging environmentalist liberal, serving on the boards of several environmental groups. Also, I am President this year of my local Rotary Club and on the board of our local Santa Rosa Symphony orchestra. |

My Life Since Senn ...:
Joined the U.S. Marine Corps 27 June '60, active 14 October '60, Cuban Crisis '62, weapons instructor, Camp Pendleton; two tours in Vietnam, Base M.P. Supervisor, Post #4, Great Lakes. Brig cross country 15 May '70. Discharged 5 April '70. Started at Colgate University on the Grounds Crew, Retired April 2005. Joined Hamilton Fire Department in 1991 and am still active with them as Fire Police. I also have two part-time jobs as crossing guard for the Hamilton School (2 hours a day) and during the summer I am a farmers market monitor on Saturdays. I like the history that is in this area. I am not too far from Fort Stanwix in Rome NY which played a big part in the Revolutionary War and the Battle of Oriskany. There are a lot of Civil War landmarks and Garret Smith Historic Home in Peterboro, Smithfield, Eaton, Madison Villages, as well as the Underground Railroad and the houses in Eaton and Madison. Hamilton was known as the recruitment center for the Civil War. This country is full of history and wonderful places to see and admire. I am glad I have the chance to see and study about our country. I am sorry I can't make our reunion but my job and family health issues make it impossible. Keep me posted and thanks for the invite. Have a good time and I hope your weather is great for the reunion. Respectfully submitted, Francis X. Belitz Class of '60 |

My Life Since Senn ...:
After Northwestern undergrad and law school, I moved to Washington to clerk for a U.S. Tax Court Judge, and have practiced tax law in Washington ever since. I also am a member of the tax faculty at Northwestern Law School, where I teach corporate and other tax-related courses. My wife, Jane (Korff), and I have been married almost 42 years. We live in Chevy Chase, MD, just outside DC, where we raised our two girls, Angie and Lindsay, both of whom now live in Chicago. We have two grandsons (Max, 6, and Nate, 4). Jane recently retired as a social worker. We spend much time during the summer in far western Maryland, where we have a wonderful waterfront retreat at Deep Creek Lake and I continue to pursue my life-long passion for waterskiing. We have taken several foreign bike trips, play lots of tennis and are avid snow-skiers. It is hard to believe that half a century has passed since our days at Senn. I very much look forward to seeing old friends at the Reunion. |

Comment: Senn was a great experience for me because I moved from the West side to the North side when I entered my sophomore year and didn't know anyone. I made many life-long friends very quickly - I give Senn some of that credit.

My Life Since Senn ...:
Life has been good, even with all of the ups and downs. Married for 32 years; divorced; in a relationship for too long; out of relationship and now happily occupied. Three adult daughters: an office executive; a Captain with Spirit Airlines; a Hoffman Estates Police Officer. I have 3 dogs and two grand-dogs. My education continued with a B.A. from the University of Illinois in Urbana; several M.A.'s at various universities and ended with a Doctorate from Loyola University. I retired in 2013 after 37 years in education. I was the coordinator of a Title IV Safe & Drug Free Schools Federal Grant for 18 years, and the rest of the time I taught in various classrooms...between having daughters. I'm still subbing - when it doesn't get in the way of my traveling - and will continue until it\'s no longer enjoyable. I belong to a ski club and love downhill skiing. I'm the membership chairperson and also in charge of our bowling group. I do a lot of walking with my dogs and swim four or five days a week. I squeeze in biking when I can, even though my dogs look at me with angry eyes because they want more walks! Staying active, enjoying life with no complications or drama - that's my motto for now. |

My Life Since Senn ...:
UI for three years followed by medical school in Chicago. Married Susan DeLott (Senn-62) in 1965 and did my internship and residency (Ophthalmology) at U. Iowa where we had all three of our children. Major in the Air Force - Montgomery, AL where I learned you didn't have to freeze every winter. Fellowship at UTexas (Retina) and joined Houston Eye Associates. Spent the next thirty years teaching and lecturing at local, national and international levels. Helped found a Jewish middle and secondary school in Houston. Took time to have by-pass surgery at age 43 (1986) and decided to travel more. Stopped doing surgery 1n '95 and teaching 10 years later. Working part-time, exercise, lake house, opera, travel, etc. Three great kids: daughter (nurse-Chinese Medicine in San Fran.), two sons (orthopedic surgeon and trial lawyer in Houston) and 6 great grandkids. I always held my classmates in awe because of their talent and intelligence and reading their profiles justifies my feelings. This is my first reunion and I'm really looking forward to visiting with my classmates. |

My Life Since Senn ...:
I married, divorced and re-married. We have three children and five wonderful grandchildren-ranging in age from 2 to 12, four boys and one "princess." On the work front, I spent many years as a teacher-and then went into the financial markets about 35 years ago. My husband and I are Registered Investment Advisors in the State of New Mexico. We moved out here in 1997 and it is a wonderful lifestyle. Life is good. |
