It is what it is and I am what I am
Sept 1960 enrolled in Western Illinois University, Macomb Il. Majored in education (P.E.) Left in 1965, married my wife Carol, July 1965. Always teased her how lucky she was to get me, but truth be known, I was the lucky one in that union, would be lost without her, wife, B.F. mom and nana. My oldest boy “Kevin”, 42, is a special needs child. He lives in Rome, Georgia about 24 miles from where I live, at Northwest Regional Hospital. He requires 24 hour nursing care, we visit him every week. He is always happy and glad to see us, his brothers and his niece’s. Christopher, 41, is married with three daughters and has worked with me in different businesses for the last 15 years. Sean, 39, is also a special needs child. He is able to live with us at home and works 5 days a week at a sheltered workshop here in Cartersville.
Would not miss this reunion for the world, see y’all there!!!!!!!
After college I worked with my father in the family business for twelve years, with a three year sabatical when I was in business with my brother and a friend in downtown Chicago (Grand and Milwaukee). We were in the custom woodworking business, worked with interior decorators and retail customers alike. Moved to Georgia in 1976 and opened up a liquor store, owned it for 15 years. In the 34 yrs I have lived in Ga. I have also been employed in the following business ventures, some over-lapping others: beauty salon 8 yrs, wife helped run it (thank God), hamburger franchise 4 yrs., Chevron convenient store 4400 sq ft with groceries and meat, 15 years. Currently in coin amusement game business 7 years. I work about three days a week, retirement really sucks after being in retail all those years. Travel about 3 times a year, one of which is always to Chicago to see friends and family and to fill up on lox, bagels and corn-beef: secret gentile soul food! |

Life is what happens when you're making other plans -- John Lennon
I graduated high school and put away my dolls. (I was too old ...) Went to college (I was too young ...) Became a secretary, then a copywriter and worked and traveled with the American Medical Assoc. Found out I wasn't ugly. Quit my job after 5 years and sailed away alone on the Queen Mary for a year discovering Europe and the middle east, in case life would never let me do that again. (it hasn't ...) Came home, fell in love, married a special man, had two adorable children ... and learned about the autism spectrum the hard way. Worked as a family to deal reasonably well with that. Learned I was no longer too old for dolls. Slowly became knowledgeable about them and their history, built up a resource library and became the "doll lady" and a lecturer at the Museum of Science and Industry for about 30 years. Shared the joy of my hobby with family and friends, old and new. Bought some special dolls with my winnings on TV quiz shows like "Jeopardy!" and "Millionaire". Lotsa fun! (... and now I am just the right age ...!)

Enjoy ech day like it's your last. It may be.
University of Illinois (Navy Pier & Champaign) (1964). Chicago-Kent College of Law (1967)
After graduation and passing the bar examination, started working the first year as a lawyer (now 53 years) doing legal research and estate planning. This quickly turned to trial work that continued for over 50 years. I actually tried my first jury case on my first day as a trial lawyer and my last jury trial in my last week as a trial lawyer.
I met my wife because of my profession. We met at Studebaker's in Schaumburg (anyone remember?). and she needed legal help for a traffic ticket. Although I didn't actually do traffic work, I did for her. We were married within 2 weeks of starting to date. Now we will be celebrating 30 years together on St. Patrick's Day, 2020. I have 3 step-children and 7 grandchildren. Who would have guessed?
Now that I am almost retired, my days are spent working some and spending the rest of my time with my wife. We like to watch British programming at home, regularly go to the movies and do a fair amount of traveling (my wife is a former "stewardess", not flight attendant). We see the kids and grandkids in between.
Now I'm trying to keep busy and out of trouble in retirement.
