Every day is a gift!
I became an elementary school teacher---got married to Neal, the love of my life, two days after I graduated college. We have been married for 45 wonderful years (46 by the time of the reunion). I taught school for a year and then my eldest was born. I became a full-time mom and I worked in Neal's office when needed. I was involved with Brandeis and was on the Women's Board of Neal's hospital for several years; and was Ball Chair one year for the annual fund-raising gala. After my children were grown and out of the house, several of my friends went to work in retail. I worked for Neiman Marcus for nine years. Tennis, Mah Jongg and golf have been my hobbies over the years; however, my favorite hobby is now Bridge. Neal and I love to travel (we went to Europe on our honeymoon in '64) and we have travelled all over the world (Antartica in January of '09 enabled us to say, "all seven continents")! I am extremely devoted to my kids, their spouses and my three grandchildren. I feel very fortunate to have an incredible family and amazing friends.
I can't believe it's been fifty years. I know it's going to be a lot of fun being on the Hospitality Committee. I look forward to greeting you at the Reunion! |

Just keep going.
I graduated from U of I downstate and began my teaching career with the Chicago Public School system.
Jack P. Rimland, a fellow U of I graduate and I became engaged my last semester while he was attending law school at DePaul in Chicago. Upon his graduation we married and took an extended honeymoon through Europe. He then began his career as an Assistant State's Attorney. I decided to stop teaching and attended Interior Design classes part-time at the Chicago Academy. I graduated and began my Interior Design career. I then became President of the Illinois Chapter of ASID. Ever since I have been practicing Interior Design as a professional. Lately I have extended my interests to vintage classic furniture. My partner and I started a business called ReDefined Design, which is an up-dated collection of vintage furniture that is for sale to the public. |

Be grateful for your blessings and do what you can to help others.
Moved to Milwaukee and married in 1961. Had a daughter, Cheryl, who is 46 and an underwriter for an insurance company. She has been married for 25 years to Dan, a Sheriff's deputy. We have one grandson, Steve, who is 17 and going into his senior year in high school. He is a State qualifier in wrestling and soccer and we enjoy watching his competitions.
I divorced in 1968, moved back to Illinois and remarried. This July we will celebrate our 40th anniversary. I worked for a large management consulting firm in Chicago for 23 years before I retired in 2003, as an executive assistant to several partners in the retirement benefits department. We are now enjoying retirement and spend our time gardening, boating, enjoying nature, traveling and volunteering. |

It hardly seems possible that it's been 50 years since we attended Senn High School. There have been so many milestones in life since those teenage years, but I offer a brief summary.
Following Senn, took classes at Chicago junior colleges and completed 4 years at Washburne, leading to a career in construction. For employment, I joined a sheet metal construction firm that was headquartered in Skokie and remained with that firm for 25 years. Married with three children, a daughter and twin boys. Kids are all grown now and spread out, living in places like Wisconsin, Minnesota and California, also have three grandchildren, with one at each location. Oops, that first marriage didn't last. Without ties to Chicago I started traveling for my employer. Met my second wife while working in the Cleveland area, and she has kept me around for 25 years. With this marriage I also gained a stepdaughter, but she is also at a long distance, living in Seattle. My wife worked for a major auto manufacturer that relocated her to central Florida. I tried commuting on weekends between Chicago and Orlando for 2-1/2 years, but it just took too long to get home on Friday night. In 1990, I moved to central Florida and found employment with a major facility here in Orlando that just keeps expanding. Health is good. I still take occasional classes at Seminole State College, but just the fun stuff. Enjoy running in 5K races and biking. I have been thinking about retiring, but I have been just too busy to set a date for retirement. |
