Keep it simple and enjoy life each day because it can suddenly get shorter than you thought.
From September 1960 to January 1964 I went first to Navy Pier and then to U of I downstate which gave me a BS in elementary education. I taught school for 4 years. During that time I met and married Paul Richter in 1966. The day of the wedding we started driving to NYC where we lived across from Columbia Presbyterian Hospital where he did his neurology residency. I taught 4th grade 2 blocks away. It was a transitioning neighborhood which was interesting and enjoyable both professionally and personally. Very soon the missed monthly body function proved to be our first son Adam now a software designer working for Cisco in San Jose. He has given me 2 gorgeous grandchildren (and 1 is my only female offspring) We always felt blessed by the surprise of his birth.
In 1969 we moved to Brooks Airforce Base to the School of Aerospace Medicine in San Antonio, Tx where Paul fulfilled his 2 year military obligation. 1970 saw the arrival of Dan (now a CPA working for Citibank and living here in NJ) Life on a military base was more than interesting. In 1971 we moved to Pgh. Pa. where Paul joined a neurology practice. We very much enjoyed the next 28 years there raising our sons and enjoying the culture, community and beautiful cityscape and landscape. While Paul was working I was putting my energies (aside from motherhood) into community work. We made many wonderful friends to whom I am still closely connected. We visit often. In 1978 when Paul started his own practice, I managed his office for the next 10 years. But eventually I wanted my own thing. I attended Pitt (right down the street from our house) and received my MSW in 1990. I did individual, family and group therapy first for 4 years at WPIC on the eating disorders unit. I left for my own practice and joined 3 psychologists in a lovely collegial environment and office space 4 minutes from my house. I loved the work. But in 1996 Paul’s VERY sudden death changed my life radically. In 1998 I agreed to a date with Bob Kobrin from NJ. I thought it would be good to know some people where my sons lived so that I wouldn’t be such a burden to them when I visited. In 1999 Bob and I decided to marry. On most days that seems to have been a good decision. But guess where we moved? I am a walking city girl but suburban living in Voorhees NJ does have some advantages. Our house is on a lovely lake that is beautifully different each day. I have made lots of good friends in 10 years here. And best of all: I get to see the 3 beautiful boys that Dan & Micki have given us. It’s way better than Pittsburgh or Chicago in terms of getting to see them and I take advantage of it often. Since I have lived in 5 different states I think my hard drive has lost a lot of memories. I am looking forward to reloading and refreshing them with you. Thanks to the committee for all this hard work for our fun. |

When we have the time we don't have the money and when we have the money we don't have the time.
After graduation went to IBM Key punch school-hated it. Married age 20 and spent 9 months with my soldier husband in New Jersey. Divorced after 7 years, remarried and was widowed after 3 years. Met next husband and that lasted almost 12 years. Got sick of tall, dark and rotten men and found a wonderful guy, short, sweet and balding. Married almost 19 years.
Had so many different and interesting jobs but kept moving on to find more challanges. We joke that the only job I have't had is that of plumber. For the past 19 years have been a calligrapher and artist. My husband and I have been fortunate to travel and take our business with us to various art and craft shows. We currently have the calligraphy shop at the Renaissance Faire for the past 11 years. |

Count your blessings and be happy.
After high school I attended Northwestern Univ. & Univ. of Illinois Med School. I then obtained training in internal medicine & pulmonary diseases. After Air Force obligation completed, we moved to Pittsburgh. I’m currently director of pulmonary/critical care medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh where I’ve been in practice for 35 years. Married Carol in 1968 - Carol taught at a local university for 20 years & is now emeritus professor of French. Daughter is a psychiatrist and has 2 children. Son, who’s wife is pregnant, is a music video producer in NY. I love to play golf & ride my bike at our condo in Sanibel, Florida. My work schedule allows us sufficient time to travel extensively and enjoy our condo in Florida.

Wealth is defined by family and health.
Graduated from the University of Illinois in 1964 and DePaul Law School in 1967. My wife Donna and I have been married for 44 years. We have 3 happily married children, 6 grandchildren and a 7th on the way. We have lived in Deerfield for 38 years. Our sons and their families also live in Deerfield and our daughter and her family live in Los Angeles. I am still practicing law in Chicago. From 1988 until 1991 I took a sabbatical from law to operate 2 California Pizza Kitchen restaurants in Chicago. I plan to semi-retire soon so that we can continue our travels, see our family in Ca., and enjoy our grandchildren here at home.
I hope the next 50 years go a little slower. |

You, and only you, are responsble for your actions
I graduated from Northwestern University in 1964. After graduating Medical School in 1968, I was drafted in the Army as a General Medical Officer for 2 years, finished my ophthalmology residency in 1974, and have been in private practice with The Midwest Center for Sight-practicing ophthalmology in the Northern suburbs of Chicago till the present time. I am presently the senior partner in a 5 man practice. Many of my patients are 1960 Senn grads-one of which is Ellen Klein who I married in 1966. My son was born in Pusan, Korea in 1970 while I was serving in the Army and stationed in Korea. I am blessed with a great wife, incredible son and daughter-in-law, and am papa to 4 amazing grandkids. My passions consist of travel (Ellen and I have been to over 100 countries), golf, photography, classical music and opera.

College, law school, teacher, cab driver investigator, politics, before being drafted and then Vietnam. Traveling was exciting for about 15 years before settling into a quiet life as a parent and an accountant in Los Angeles for the next 35 years.
Thank you reunion committee for your persistance and hard work.
My excitement today is playing with my 3 young grandchildren. I live with and take care of my 92 year old mother. Failed investments and business ventures means still working after all these years. My largest achievement is that I have doubled my weight since high school by bad eating and little exercise. Looking forward to meeting old friends and others I haven't seen for 50 years and reviving lost memories. |

He who knows himself to be deep strives for clarity of expression; he who wishes to seem deep strives for obscurity.
I got my B.A. at Northwestern in timely fashion, and then started doing things belatedly. In 1971 I became a "mature" graduate student, working on my doctorate in Comparative Literature, having in the intervening years, been a social worker, cab-driver, and editor; and having spent nearly three years in Europe. In 1978, I became a somewhat older beginning faculty member at Indiana University. In 1990, when I returned to Bloomington after a research year spent in Santa Barbara, Rome, Paris, and Frankfurt, I met and fell in love with someone who lived a few houses down from me - Margot Gray, a professor of French. (My previous marriage had ended in divorce when I was in graduate school.) With the birth of Joseph in 1995, I became an older father. (Our second son, Nathan, was born in 1998.) Having spent my entire career at Indiana, I retired at the end of 2006. My retirement was not belated, but neither was it complete: I continue to mentor students, to do research and to write (about belatedness, among other things), and to lecture, provided that the venue is right. (The last was in Paris.)
