Howie died in October, 2021 at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife Eda, 2 daughters and two granddaughters. He spent most of his life in public service. Howie was a statesman, voice for the voiceless, and a great storyteller. He served in the Illinois House and Senate for 28 years, and authored numerous bills focusing on equal rights and human rights. He meet with Presidents, Prime Ministers, and Mother Teresa. Howie was a family man and deeply devoted to his Jewish faith.
